Meet The Guides

Montana

Born-and-raised Appalachian from Newland, North Carolina. Over the years, Montana has had the opportunity to travel across the United States, honing his storytelling skills everywhere from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Klondike region of Alaska and Canada.


Along the way, he's led tours on the historic White Pass and Yukon Route and the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, sharing the rich history and culture of these remarkable places.

Holly

Holly is originally from South Florida and attended Florida Atlantic University, where she discovered her passion for education while working for a student tour company specializing in educational travel. This experience launched a 23-year career in education on Florida’s West Coast.

She and her husband, Paul, built their life in Venice, raising their two daughters alongside their two dogs. After beginning to spend summers in North Carolina’s High Country in 2021, Holly and Paul fell in love with the area and made it their full-time home in October 2025.

Paul

Paul grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he worked in the restaurant industry from the time he was 16 and developed a passion for Culinary Arts.

After graduating from the University of South Florida at the tender age of 40, he spent the next eight years teaching Culinary Arts and coaching the swim team at North Port High School.

Paul and his wife began spending summers in Western North Carolina and fell in love with the area, making it their permanant home in 2025. Paul now spends his free time on the many incredible hiking trails the area provides access to.

Do I need reservations?

Yes. Tours often sell out, especially during peak season and on weekends. However, check for last minute availability!

How many people are allowed on each tour?

Each public tour allows for up to 10 guests. This allows us to keep the experience intimate. However, we do offer private tour bookings as well, perfect for larger groups, weddings or corporate events.

How long is the tour?

We aim for each tour to last anywhere from 90 to 100 minutes long, but of course this can vary slightly depending on type of tour, guests questions and just how much fun you're having,

Is the tour accessible for wheelchairs or scooters?

Yes! The entire tour, from stop 1 to 20, is fully accessible!

Where exactly does this walking tour go?

This tour starts on Main Street, taking a few turns down back and side streets and then ends at Broyhill Park.

Will there be places to sit and rest or use the facilities?

Yes! There will be benches and ledges along the route to rest, and one 10-minute bathroom break.

What is the terrain on the walk?

The entire tour takes place on fully paved sidewalks with curb ramps. While we are in a mountain town, the route is mostly flat. There is one short stretch with a gentle incline, but we keep a relaxed pace and provide a rest right after.

Where does the tour start?

Each tours depart from the parking lot next to 983 Main Street, in the heart of historic downtown Blowing Rock.

What happens in the event of weather?

In the event your tour is cancelled due to weather, we will attempt to reschedule and if unable you will receive a full refund.

What if I need to cancel?

Plans change, we totally get it! Please just give us a 24 hour notice to receive a refund.
